First Lady Michelle Obama smiled as she arrived in the East Room of the White House in Washington, Friday, July 24, 2009, to speak during the annual National Design Awards. Mrs. Obama is helping the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum celebrate the 10th annual National Design Awards with a lunch honoring the winners and finalists, as well as an educational program to highlight all kinds of design at museums in the city.
