First Lady Michelle Obama's outreach to community health centers included a visit to the Caroline Family Practice in Bowling Green, Virginia on Monday, July 27, 2009. She participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to help open the new community health center, which was made possible through a $1.3 million award of Recovery Act funds. She also met with current and former members of the National Health Service Corps, a program that provides scholarships and loan repayments to clinicians who provide medical, dental, and mental health care in underserved communities.
