President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama arrived for the Medal of Freedom award ceremony in the East Room at the White House in Washington August 12, 2009. The medal is the country's highest civilian honor. She looks stunning in this bright red color (by Moises de la Renta), and can we talk about her red lips! I don't think I've seen red lips on this first lady before! Fab.
Honoring the achievements of the Presidential Medal of Freedom award winners at the White House, the President noted that the 16 recipients represent some of the finest citizens in the world. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is America's highest medal awarded to civilians. The President remarked that the recipients hail from very diverse backgrounds –from the tennis court to the Supreme Court – but all have been agents of change in their communities and around the world.
